ARTIST’S STATEMENT
In the making of these works I enter a world of process that challenges my mind and satisfies my soul. I often feel as if the work allows me to live more lives, or at least a more fulfilling inner life.
Making art as a mother and wife, a maker of home, a maker of a nest, has its challenges and joys. The intensity of feelings that arise from just a simple, single day as a parent has been an inspiration to me in my work in unexpected ways.
A significant portion of my work is about land, natural and cultivated. Gardens occupy my mind and flowers grow in my imagination.
I am interested in the strength of the image, the seduction of the surface, the illusion of depth, and the relationship of pattern-to-pattern.
